Bear Lake

Somewhere in the middle of Romania, there is a lake where you can swim with ducks. It’s a special heliothermal lake, unique in Europe. The water at the surface is cold but at the bottom it gets warmer, because of the salt. This is why swimming is allowed only a few hours a day, with a couple of hours resting break in the middle of the day, so the water can settle down.

  1. Hi Ramona. The US President is selling National Park Lands to oil companies and trying to rid all of the environmental regulations that we have had for decades concerning clean water and air. Protections for endangered species, marine life, ocean water are being taken away. Every single department is being run by people who want to destroy it. Protections for disabled children and adults have been removed. Benefits for poor families have been rolled back. Education funding has been slashed and all while Trump and his family makes millions of dollars. This isn’t the normal, “I don’t like him”. This is historic and that is why I hope he fails is making our country more polluted and that he fails in his attempts to hurt children as I spent decades teaching special needs children and serving as an advocate helping parents gets specialized services from schools. Children were and are my life….Michelle

    1. I hate politics, but I watch what happens in my country and in the rest of the world as well. I can see why Trump is not suited for president, but the idea of puting America and Americans first does not sound too bad to me. I wish they’d do this here in Romania, but we are not a strong country so ever so often we don’t have a choice but to listen to those who are stronger than us. As for what you said he did, I am sure that the Republicans would put it in a totally different light, so the truth is maybe somewhere in between? Because I find it very hard to believe that help for the disabled have been removed. About benefits for poor families, I can understand it, because we have major problems with many poor Gipsy families in Romania, who ask for benefits but openly refuse to work. Then they go in Europe and beg and say they’re mistreated in Romania. It’s crazy what happens, each country has its problems and there will never be a way to please all citzens.

    1. Haha, they were super-friendly and chatted with us the whole time. These wild ducks were friendlier than the ones I have at home. And thank you so much for the kind words!

    1. Indeed, but it’s good they imposed these rules. In Romania we have many interesting nature wonders wich are practically ignored by the authorities. I just found out there is a “living fire“, a fire that comes out on its own from some holes in the ground, but it’s almost impossible to get there because of lack of roads and other facilities.
